I need a job T_T and the Job Centre is being so very, very difficult.

Ima go hunting this week...after I've actually written a GOOD version of my currently terrible CV. Ahh, wish me luck.

On a related note, does anybody have any input on whether it would be worth my while taking commissions? I know that the odd art commission here and there will not be enough to live on, but it will at least be better than nothing. The real matter is whether people WOULD in fact commission me. With no job and no classes to go to, I have a lot of time to paint; however, whether my art is something people would actually pay me to draw, or whether it's considered little more than the inept doodling of somebody who stays up too late too near a graphics tablet, I have no idea. Opinions would be welcome.

At any rate I will be mostly drawing all Summer and Autumn until my next course starts, but I am curious as to whether it would be worth my while painting stuff for other people in return for food tokens.

Argh, I need to get a job, too, really :/ It's so difficult when you haven't had a job before!

What do you think you'll be charging for commissions? Have you done any research in that respect?

It is! Gah! And I've just finished university and have no moneys.

I've been taking a look at what other artists around DA who aren't professional/do a similar variety of art to me are charging. I think I have a rough idea; I aim to be charging somewhere between £5 and £15 but still need to think about this. I certainly won't be expensive.

Do you think you'll do a range of prices for different things or charge by the hour? Charging by the hour would be so funny because no one would know

It would be funny but I wouldn't feel good about it if I accidentally mis-estimated the time and swindled somebody (that and I have a hard time keeping track of time while painting). If I were to take commissions I would charge for what I'm actually doing - £5 for basic lineart, £10 for coloured in, £15-£20 for a larger or more detailed than average work, etc.

If you're starting out you might want to start a bit lower to see where the interest is? And hey, would you do paypal? Everyone loves paypal. I'm worried when I get my bank account sorted it'll all go on commissions and gig tickets DX

I probably should, especially given the absolutely poor level of talent I have to begin with. thing is, is working for anything less than £5 really worth the effort? I may as well draw for free...which is what I'm doing anyway.

I will see about setting up a Paypal. I have a feeling that my parents would kill me, but what the hell, I don't live with them.
