Description

Time for a new Deviantart ID, I thought. Not sure why, just did. Me, being my usual goggle-headed, post-nuclear-dressing, biohazard-sticker-loving, funny-hair-coloured self.

I suck at writing about myself so I mostly left that off this ID. I did, however, put my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes (anyone else play Fallout? My friends will know I developed quite a Fallout 3 addiction last year, and ended up hoarding bottlecaps and being paranoid about things sneaking up on me.)

Ahh, Fallout 3 - a truly excellent game if ever there was one. I too breifly started hoarding bottlecaps and even tried to translate into pen & paper rules for a while, too large an undertaking for my short attention span though :P

Actually, I read a while ago that there may be a fairly good reason why bottlecaps were used as currency (beyond the whole "they're everywhere, so they make an easily measureable medium" thing). Bottlecaps contain a small but consistent quantity of solid steel, and it is actually suspected that a notable majority of the world's good-quality steel as a resource is in the form of bottlecaps. Since almost no industry still operates in the Fallout-verse, the bottlecaps represent a fixed amount of a limited, valuable building material (think of all the guns!) and so becomes a form of money.

I talked to my friend Phil from back home about this a while back though, and I have to say I agree with his response: "Wow, that's an interesting theory. And I'm sure the designers of fallout 3 didn't know anything about it!" :XD:
